Do you, like me, find it a much more enjoyable experience conducting business in a small local Post Office, rather than one of the newly created chain store franchises? The queues always seem much shorter and dealt with more swiftly; the service is always more friendly and personal, and they really seem to know what they are talking about if you ask their advice.

It's a real shame what the various parties are doing to the Post Office. I love our local Office, they always have a smile, but you never know how long it's going to be, before it also closes. Sometimes, I think they should make it a charity, a bit like the National Trust, or English Heritage, where it becomes protected and a benefit for all. Oops, There I go again, day dreaming about silly ideas :)

At least they have lifted the threat of strike action before The New Year! Let's just hope that it isn't too late for the small Post Offices to recover some of their regular business and attract new customers in the run up to Xmas. It will be a real shame if the damage is already done, as you say Kathy, many of them are only staying open by the skin of their teeth.
